Derek Saville was 25 years old when he disappeared on 7 December 1954 after leaving his girlfriend's house in the Herefordshire village of Canon Pyon.
Despite extensive searches and media coverage, Mr Saville's body was never found.
Det Insp David Llewellin said: "The disappearance of Derek Saville was one of the highest profile inquiries of its time and remains an unsolved crime to this day.
